Photo 30 - January 30

Thank goodness for laptops, without which I would have gone stir crazy today. Whomever invented the QWERTY keyboard has my gratitude. Using this machine assisted in keeping me sane today as I started getting back into some work via home today.

Photo 29 - January 29

Love these eyes - hard to say "no" to a face this cute. Looking at me as if to say... "Aren't we going to do anything exciting soon?"

Photo 28 - January 28

My little man - always with me even when feeling my worst. This is one of his bored photos as we lay in bed together. I think he would rather be out on a walk than sitting around with me for days on end. I try so hard to capture these eyes and can never really get them on camera.

Photo 27 - January 27

My impression of what I would see when I opened my eyes while laying in bed. The effect of everything apparently spinning was very nauseating. Advice - don't open your eyes. Again, a photo taken late yesterday when I started feeling better and could focus properly.

Photo 26 - January 26

This picture pretty much sums up my Australia Day. To say the least I was not a very happy camper hovering near this beast most of the day. I eventually admitted I probably needed to go to the emergency room because I couldn't even stand up or dress myself by dinner time.

Photo 25 - January 25

Again, another photo not actually taken on the day, but it is a photo of something I was working on that day. Because I wasn't feeling completely well from Saturday's sickness I couldn't make it to the first "craft day" for the year. So instead I started working on getting my photo wall up. As you can see not all the frames have photos yet - still need to decide what I want the other frames to contain and either find the photo or take one. A project to finish before the next craft day!

Photo 24 - January 24

I've got some ground to make up with posting photos having been sick quite a bit since Saturday. Here is a photo (with what I think could be going on in Jag's head) that I took on Saturday during one of the times I wasn't feeling too horrible later in the day.

Photo 23 - January 23

We celebrated Australia Day early at work. Had to bring a stubby holder as part of the fun. Not sure where this one came from - but is certainly "colourful". Took this photo when I got home and put a bottle of good Aussie brew in it - Bundaberg Ginger Beer - yum!

Watching football playoffs in bed - this is what I would call relaxation! Should have been out exercising, but finding it hard to avoid the media and finding out who won before I've watched it!

A pool built for 6 feet. Not REALLY big enough for more than one little puppy, but he shared it with me after our run tonight.....

Tuesday nights are date night in our house. How do puppies say "I love you".....

Empty Wallet Syndrome !! Oops - forgot to put credit card back in wallet after bicycle ride on Sunday and knew I had no cash today when I went to get some lunch. Was only when I was trying to pay for some fruit and veg (trying for a healthy lunch) that I realised I had no way of paying. Shoot, hate it when that happens!

Photo 18 - January 18

We took a beautiful, leisure bike ride around Lakes Monger and Herdsman this morning (thanks for coming everyone - was nice doing it together). I forget how beautiful this wetland area is! Below is a photo I took of the dredger in Lake Herdsman. I thought it looked more interesting as a black and white photo. No other altering done in Photoshop - might play later to see if I can make it any more dramatic. I liked all the birds lined up on the cables and the clouds made it more interesting too.

Photo 17 - January 17

Got out quite late yesterday to take photos, so the light was starting to fade. I didn't realise that the Hibbertia Scandens flowers (climbing guinea flower) closed for the night, so just shows what you can learn by looking at things differently through a camera. Most of the flowers on my vines were already closed, just a couple I could get some open flower shots of. These vines grow along the back wall just outside my kitchen window.

Photo 13 - January 13

Had a lovely picnic lunch today in the little park area above the bus port that is only two minutes walk from work. On the days that work isn't crazy busy and I can get away for an hour, and when it isn't too warm or raining, this is a lovely spot to get some fresh air in the middle of the day. Not sure what kind of gum trees are growing here, but the paper-like white bark is intriguing and inspired a few photos today.

Happy Birthday Mom! Today's photo is one I took thinking of you tonight. Will have to read up some more on photographing candlelight to get a better shot next time. But this is one of the more interesting ones of the trial and error shots I took tonight...

Photo 11 - January 11

I'm gonna cheat again today and give you two photos - so that you can get the entire story. The first photo is actually today's photo, but the second one is the start of the story that I took yesterday afternoon.

Late yesterday afternoon a bushfire in the dunes behind our house was being fought by a number of helitacs (water bombing helicopters). It was pretty exciting and I got just a little pink standing outside in the sun for so long on our balcony taking photos and videos. This is one of the photos I took this morning of what is left of the vegetation along the trail we take to the beach.

This is one of the photos I took yesterday afternoon of the Fire King water bombing chopper that carries 4000 litres of water. It came from California at the beginning of December this past year and aren't we glad it is here. This photo was taken from our balcony looking towards to ocean and the direction of the previous photo.

Firemen and the water bombers did a fabulous job, so contained the fire quickly without any loss of property or lives.

Here is a link to a video someone posted on YouTube of one of the smaller helicopters refilling at a pond just a short distance from the fire. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwEs7LvwfMM

Every Saturday morning I look forward to sitting in front of my computer and talking into this little thing. It is the connection that allows Mona to hear and see me as we hook up once a week. What a great invention these little webcams are. I wish all my family could have them so that I didn't feel so far away all the time.

Photo 9 - January 9

I thought I would share a picture today of the camera I use and the cute little bag I carry it in. Very trusty little camera and I have loved everything about it since buying it in 2007. Maybe one day I will buy a bigger, speckier one, but for now this one does everything I need it to do even if I wish it could zoom in a bit closer.

So, it is a Canon PowerShot A710. It's a 7.1 megapixel with a 6x zoom. Lovely little thing I must say and didn't cost the earth. Big smile.

Photo 8 - January 8

Today at work has been all about moving people and PCs around the office. So thought I would take a picture of all the old PCs that I got ready before Christmas for donation to a local school. They haven't been collected yet, so thought a photo would remind me of all the moving around of equipment today.

Photo 7 - January 7

Thought I would get a proper photo at work today to highlight the fact that this is the first full week back at work after the holidays. I really like how this one ended up. I took it up against the reflective window in our reception area....

Photo 6 - January 6

Thought I would get my picture taken early this morning. Was inspired when I started writing in my journal this morning to get a picture - no words yet written, who knows where today will go.....

Photo 5 - January 5

OK - so I had a lot of fun taking photos today! I found that carrying a camera at lunch today got me looking at things differently. Despite the heat I wanted to get outside to get today's photo, so when Dee suggested I take a photo of the new ferris wheel that being erected by the river I thought that would be just the thing.

There were lots of things that caught my eye to photograph while I was out, but I ended up quite liking this one of the new ferris wheel. By the time I got back to the office I was quite hot - I think it got to about 37 C today - so I had to take one more photo to share. My frozen Boost drink to cool me down!

Photo 4 - January 4

This was the day of the big hike. I was looking forward to the morning of exploring, but boy did it turn out to be warm. We still had fun. This photo of Mandy with the boys (Brody and Bailey) turned out as one of my favourite from the day.

Photo 3 - January 3

Again no photos taken on this date, so when I got home tonight I took a photo of what I should have been doing rather than goofing off most of the day on the 3rd.

This is my pile of clothes that need to be hand-washed. I hate doing it so the pile will sit for weeks and even months before I finally feel the need to wear something and then I will wash the whole pile.

Photo 2 - January 2

This picture WAS actually taken on Friday the 2nd. Jag had a bath that afternoon and we spent the rest of the afternoon together out in the backyard, me in the shade and him in the sun until he dried off and then moved into this shady spot by the backdoor.

Photo 1 - January 1

So, this is the start of my Project 365 photo sharing. I only really decided to take on this project on the 3rd of Jan, so I will have to cheat a little with a couple of photos, but I promise to remain true the rest of the year! Today is actually the 5th, so am posting everything up to and including today all at once. Normally will try to make it here every day or two at most so I don't get behind posting. So on to the photo.....

I actually took this photo tonight while I was doing a little tidy-up in the kitchen before making dinner. Seeing the bottle of champagne Mandy left inspired me to show you what we should have been drinking on New Year's Day if we would have organised a get together.
